John 14:18 “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.”
Shabbat Shalom Barch Ata/ Happy Sabbath and Blessed The Name,
Last night I dreamt about children who were homeless. In the dream, they were causing trouble around the neighborhood, and some way they got hold of my car and tried to drive it. When I caught up with them I remember asking them why are you behaving this way and where are your parents. One child said to me we have no parents and we are homeless. There was a certain boy who appeared to be the oldest out of the children. I said to him in a passionate way how I was in foster care and I was adopted and that you can either make the excuse to keep doing wrong or rise above it. In the dream, I hugged the boy and kept telling him he can overcome this. He began to cry and continue to hug me back. From there the neighborhood came together and people offered to give the children a place to stay. There was a judge who told everyone to come to her chambers who was willing to care for a child. In the dream, I picked up a little girl that I wanted to care for.
When everyone arrived in the judge’s office a lady approached me and praised me for making an effort to help these children find homes. She went on to say, because of me they will all have homes.
When I woke up from the dream I wondered what the dream could mean. I got up to prepare myself to start writing today’s devotion. I prayed and asked The Adoni what I should write about it. I begin writing on another subject and He led me to write down the dream. At first, I did know how the dream could relate to the scriptures or our personal relationship with Him. As I continue to write down the dream, He gave me the title forever home. In a previous devotion, I talked about the process of adoption and how we are adopted into The Abba’s family. Therefore as his children, we have a forever home waiting for us. Children who are in the foster care system or homeless they have no home to call their own. Some of them go place to place and others continue to roam the streets. As believers in Yeshua Hamashiach, our earthy home is not our forever home (Philippians 3:20). We patiently wait until we can forever be with our Father in Heaven. He promises that He will not leave us as orphans (John 14:18 “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.”)
The definition of homeless (is a person) without a home, and therefore typically living on the streets. The Lord showed me how many people are without a spiritual home. They are like the children in my dream. Roaming around without a Heavenly Father and no place to call their home. In the dream, I was the person used to help them find homes. In other words, I was the Yeshua Hamashiach in their lives bringing them to the Judge (Abba/Father) who has the final say in granting them a forever home. Scriptures remind us how Yeshua is our advocate who bridges the gap between us and the Abba/Father (I John 2:1). In the dream I witnessed the children causing trouble however, I became their advocate and ministered to them and brought them the Judge. The judge was ready to accept them and give them permanent homes. In the dream, the trouble they caused did not matter.
In closing as believers we have the responsibility to minister to the homeless and orphan (James 1:27). However, we are not just called to fulfill their natural needs but also spiritual needs. Our leave you with this remember who you are in Him and seek Him to see how you can be an advocate in someone's life helping them to find their forever home in Yeshua Hamashiach.
Shabbat Shalom
