In order to participate at a K-Modulation, LLC Gospel Spoken Word Competition all participants and spectators must hold the art of poetry and other form of talent in the highest regard. 

reservesAll participants must understand that K.M. the right to make any changes in competition events, categories, performance divisions, schedules and any other factor, in order to maintain a high quality, professionally produced competition event.  Any decisions made by K.M directors or event staff will be made in the best interest of the event.

K.M and its directors have the right to refuse any entry at any time.  All participants must agree to abide by all the Rules, Regulations and Guidelines established by K.M.

participants staffK.M has a zero tolerance policy.  Any derogatory statements towards any, fellow or any lack of cooperation, demonstration of poor sportsmanship, blatant disregard of K. M rules and regulations or disrespect for others at the event will be not tolerated and will result in disqualification of a routine and any such persons involved or affiliated will be asked to leave the event and no refunds will be issued.

 REGISTRATION CRITERIA: All participants will be registered according to the following criteria: Division and ages 18 or up, solo, or group.

CATEGORY REGULATIONS:

ENTRY FEES: entry fees are payable in USA funds are as follows: $100.00

Entry fees include: Registration for competition, tickets for the events, food and refreshments

ENTRY RULES: One 2017 Official Entry Form must be completed for each entry. Entry fees must accompany entry forms, all entry fees must be received before the event. Entries are accepted on a first come, first served basis and any entries received after the entry deadline will only be accepted if space and time permit.  Any entries received after the deadline must have the option to enter for the next month competition, wait to see if someone cancels or money will be refunded.  Schedule availability will be determined by order of receipt of entries any changes made to an entry within three weeks of the competition may not appear in the program. 

 

TIME LIMITS: 1st round is a preliminary round (6) six minutes each 2 pieces not including grace period. Please be prepared for four rounds depending on the judges' decisions.

2nd round (Top 6) poets 3 minutes each
3nd round 3 poets 2 minutes each
4th and final round 2 poets 2 minutes each

 

TIME LIMIT REGULATIONS: Performances exceeding their time limit will be deducted points. 

 

INFORMATION PACKAGE: A performance schedule, location information, directions will be e-mailed.

 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE: We will not have a final schedule until two (2) weeks prior to the competition date.  Please be advised that our performance schedule is made based solely on the breakdown of entries. We cannot create an accurate schedule until all entries are received and processed.

Please also be advised that the number we assign to each participant is assigned for reference and identification purposes.  At K.M we do our best to run the performances in numerical order, however, it may be necessary for performers to compete out of sequence in order to avoid any delays.. 

( Performers should be ready a minimum of 15 minutes prior to their scheduled performance time.  Performers must check in register table an hour before event time 1:30 p.m.)

If a performance number is announced earlier than expected, all performances scheduled to follow that number must be ready to perform. 

All performances must be suitable for family viewing.  Displays of violence, social prejudice or those, which are sexually suggestive, are NOT appropriate.  In addition, must be age appropriate or will be subject for point deduction or disqualification. 

Absolutely no littering of the performance area is allowed.  Performers must be prepared to completely clean the area immediately following a performance.

Any clarifications can be directed in advance to the K.M. 

 

AUDITORIUM REGULATIONS:   

As a courtesy to the judges, performers and other spectators please do not stand, enter or exit the performance area while a performance is taking place.

With the exception of judges and event staff, no food or drink is permitted around the performance area.

Any person(s) who causes damage will assume full responsibility for repair, replacement and/or restitution.

METHOD OF ADJUDICATION: Three (4) top qualified judges will adjudicate at each K.M Spoken Word Competition.   

 Each routine will receive a score based on Ten points (10) points from each judge. Ten highest and one the lowest.  Judges will score on Appearance, Content/biblical, Showmanship, and Execution/Technique.

There will be First, Second and Third winners for the competition only the 1stprize winner receives the cash prize.

ADJUDICATION REGULATIONS: All entrants agree that the time, manner and method of judging the competition shall be solely within the discretion of the directors of K.M

isThe decisions of the judges final.  Participants are not permitted to discuss scoring, comments or results with any judges.  Please direct these concerns to the event organizers.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Participants can depend on K.M  for quality and professionalism. 

In order to provide “clean-cut” entertainment for our audiences, we insist that K.M Spoken Word Competition entries are suitable for family viewing and listening in theme, costuming, lyrics and choreography. Suggestive, sexual or violent content is not acceptable.  Inappropriate performances and/or conduct will, at minimum, have points deducted, may be interrupted.

SMOKING: is strictly prohibited inside the competition facility. Please smoke outside, away from the entrance and exits.

FOOD AND BEVERAGE: With the exception of the adjudicators, food or drink is strictly prohibited in the performance area and change.

CONDITIONS OF REGISTRATION: All participants must agree to abide by all the Rules, Regulations and Guidelines established by K.M events.

likeAll participants, spectators and the , attending a K.M agree to hold the Competition and its’ executive and associated staff blameless for any loss of personal items, injuries, or liabilities while at the competition. 

Sportsmanlike behavior is expected at all times.  Failure to display proper decorum could result in immediate disqualification and you will be asked to leave the event.

RELEASE FORM: The K.M Release Form in the Official Entry Form Package holds K.M and its’ directors and associates harmless, in the event that any personal injury during the competition should occur.

ENTRY FORMS:   All entry forms should be emailed info@K-Modulation.com or brought to the competition.

CONFIRMATION:  Within three (3) weeks of receipt of your entries, K. M will send a confirmation of all of your entries.  This is your opportunity to make sure all of your registrations are entered in the Category, Performance Division.

  • Each poem must be of the poet's own construction;

  • 1st round each poet gets six minutes (plus a ten-second grace period) to read two poems. If the poet goes over time, points will be deducted from the total score. 

  • The poet may not use props, costumes or musical instruments;

  • Of the scores the poet received from the four judges, the high and low scores are dropped and the middle three are added together, giving the poet a total score of 0-30.
